Special Edition: England - York

If you are on the way to the heart of England make a stop in the north and visit one of the most beautiful and historical cities in England: York. 
York is characterized by the meaningful histrorical attractions including for instance the York Minister, the York Castle, various Museums and the walls which lead through the whole city. Just walk around the city centre and on the walls, you will discover many interesting things all over the city.

Isle of Skye #6: Mealt Falls and Neist Point

So guys, this is the last post about Isle of Skye.
The last two stops of our trip were the waterfalls called the Mealt Falls and the Neist Point.
The waterfalls are very famous for Skye. Definetely go there because it is near to the Old Man of Storr and not only the waterfalls (which aren't as big as I expected ;-) ) but also the view to the ocean are wonderful.
The Neist Point was a perfect end of the day. Just amazing. Check out the pictures. #Aylin

When I was in Miami in February 2012, me and a friend made a one day trip to the Bahamas! We took a ferry for 80$, including food, drinks, a sightseeing tour and free cocktails in a Beach Bar. If your have the chance, you can even go for three days. Then you live on a boat comparable to an AIDA, and you visit different islands and have more luxury features on and off board. Unfortunately, this cost 250$ and was not affordable for us poor students. Anyway, it was a very good trip and I am proud to have the Bahamas stamp in my passport ;) xxx Heidi

Isle of Skye #5: Old Man of Storr and Elgol

One of the must-do's on Isle of Skye is visiting the Old Man of Storr - not only visiting but climbing up the mountain! It's a rocky hill with an adventures path through a foresty area. I felt like a hobbit on an adventure climbing up there. It takes at least 40 minutes but you will not regret. The view is estonishing. Just take care while climbing up to the rocks. And take some sturdy shoes with you on the trip ;-)

                                     

Elgol is a village on the shores of a Loch in the middle of the highlands. Surprise, surprise: you have wonderful view from there!

Isle of Skye #4: Trip Route

Here is the route that we took and we only had one full day on the Isle. But: we stoped at several spots, whenever we saw an amazing view (what was basically always). We also took some detours, not always intentionally but It was ok since we saw even more of the Isle ;-) So these are the main spots we stoped at:

Check out the last post 'Isle of Skye #2: Hostel' for more Information on the Hostel and the following posts for more information on the particular spots we stopped at. Some of them are Must-do's and others just can do's.
If you have more time to visit: You could try the Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle and stop wherever you think it is worth it. Just try to enjoy the view and the nature. I can't stress this often enough: Skye is amazing! And I hope you are just as lucky as we were with the weather. #Aylin

Isle of Skye #2 - Hostel

We spent two nights in the backpackers hostel in broadford. The location is perfect to start your trip on  Skye from.
The cooperative is near to the hostel, which is nice to just get some food for the trip and to cook sth in the hostel. Basically it was the only supermarket we saw on the Island. I have seen a lot of hostels which were worse in terms of hygiene. So, it was pretty good.
There are some small pubs and restaurants in broadford but if you do the trip right you will be exhausted in the evening anyway and just fall in your bed.
If you are lucky with the wheather the runner of the hostel will organise a fire outisde. Unfortunately it was raining the night he planned to do that for us.
We paid 16 Pound per night on average. Which is standard I'd say.
So: absolutely recommendable, people there were funny and nice and the location is perfect. Thumps up!

Isle of Skye #1 - most beautiful spots in Scotland

I spend my last weekend on Skye and I am overwhelmed. The Island has to offer so many different estonishing landscapes...

I will give you more information on Accomodation, the route we took and the most important spots you should stop at in this following week. Looking forward!

Get some rest at Ayr

Not far away from Glasgow, Ayr is a sweet coastal city.

Jump into a train, for about £12 for a return-ticket, and go to take advantage of the sea air and the beach !!

If you want to try some Fish & Chips, it's the moment !! 

Stop at the Wellington (100-104 Sandgate for the name of the street), they make really good Fish & Chips for £4-5.
