Eastern holiday - day 2 - Part 5 - Uig

Hai. :D

After a long drive, climb and much of new impressions, we were glad to reach Uig.. The road we took was a bit scary, probably not meant for tourists.. but actually really funny. (really steep hill in a Opel 1.2, you know what I mean ;)) - I forgot how the road is called: but use your TomTom (or other navigation system) and navigate from Kilt Rock to Uig, fastest route. (only for Dare Devils ;))

The hotel was quite expensive, but beautiful traditional styled including a restaurant and bar with fire place.

Ghost Tour Edinburgh

As you already noticed, Edinburgh has a lot of history and is very interesting. A lot of the stories in and around Edinburgh are scary though: executions, public punishments, witch persecutions... Edinburgh's past has everything to make some Hollywood Horror Movies. If you want to learn more about this, I can recommend you the Ghost Tours that take place every evening. They start on high street in front of the Starbucks and are really scary- so don't go there if you cannot handle witches ;-) The pictures show our guide, a wicked couch and a basement where presumed witches were tortured^^wuuhuuuu xx heidi

Most Scottish Breakfast in Edinburgh

If you are in Edinburgh and want to have a Scottish Breakfast, I can advise you the Maggie Dickson Pub, as this is a very traditional Pub that honors one of the most famous and popular residents in Edinburgh - surprise surprise- Maggie Dickson. Her story is as scandalous as funny. Maggie Dickson should be executed on the Haymarket some hundred years ago, because she got pregnant from a guy who was not her husband. People in Edinburgh loved executions, so everybody was on the Haymarket observing this event. Maggie was hanged. But on the way to the graveyard, the cabman riding the carriage heard some knocking... He opened the coffin and there Maggie was, saying Hi and being obviously not as dead as assumed. So, the cabman turned and went back to the Haymarket, excited to promote the news that now the people of Edinburgh can see a second execution! But, in the crowd there was a lawyer, telling the people that Maggie Dickson was condemned to death, but she was already declared as dead, so it is not right to execute her a second time. Lucky Maggie! From this day on, Maggie Dickson was famous, as she already received the highest punishment, she could do all the crimes and nobody would stop her. She went everyday on the market and didn't pay for anything she took. Nice story? xx heidi
